Key factors to consider when getting a coach insurance quote
When shopping around for coach insurance, there are some important factors that many people overlook when obtaining a coach insurance quote. Whilst it is vital that you are accurate when providing details, otherwise your coach insurance may be invalid, you can save between 10-60% on your coach insurance policy if you consider these points.
- No claims discount
If you have a no claims discount, be sure to include it when providing your details. If the no claims discount is from being a coach driver or operator, that is the optimum and should provide you with the best discounts as this shows you are a competent and trustworthy coach driver/operator.
But if you have a no claims discount on a similar vehicle – for example a minibus, commercial vehicle, bus, small coach – then this will certainly be taken into account and in many circumstances transferable.
- Drivers – who is going to drive?
If its just you that is going to drive, make sure you are the only names driver on the policy! This will save you between 10-20% on your coach insurance quote. You can always add additional drivers or change to an “any driver” coach insurance policy at a later date
- Voluntary excess for your coach insurance
Having a larger voluntary excess will reduce your coach insurance premium. So if you think you are a careful driver(s), it is worth having a bigger excess to keep your premium low. Often, the difference between different excesses and premium is negligible. You can always reduce your excess as your no claims bonus gets bigger
- Overseas travel
If you only think that you’ll use your coach overseas infrequently, then it is more likely that you’ll get cheap coach insurance if you get overseas cover on an ad-hoc basis as and when you need it – rather than a permanent green card.
